3D Members - Karen Lawley

For many years I was involved with professional theatre as a singer and actress. I toured the country in productions of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Chess’ and ‘Aspects of Love’ and spent 2 years performing in the West End.

I stopped working in the theatre when I had my two children, but carried on singing in bands, something I still love to do now.

Three years ago I started learning sign language and came to 3D at the beginning of rehearsals for ‘The Wizard of Oz’ through Niki, who taught me BSL level 1. I have been very interested to see how differently 3D work, compared to my experiences in the world of hearing theatre.

I am very happy to be part of 3D, learning new ways to communicate with an audience and helping to bring this wonderful piece of theatre to life.
